Yeah, those are the worst, really broad topics. I like Steph's answer, though, pick something you're interested in. In botany, you can probably go with the guy who studied cells under a microscope (can't remember his name), in medicine, you can probably go with people like Salk who developed the polio vaccine, the guy who developed penicillin, that African-American who developed a system to separate red blood cells (Charles Drew maybe?) a bunch of other folks.
