What do you do when Holy Writ is proven wrong?

I was watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture today and the Enterprise (PBUH) flies by Jupiter and the planet has no rings! Should the science books be changed to remove any references to Jupiter's rings as it is clear from the Gospel of Kirk (PBUH) that Jupiter has no rings!
