Can a Bailiff ransack someone's house?
I am posing this question on behalf of a friend (who is really close to getting a writ of seizure enforced) to folks in Singapore who can really advise her (because she is staying with her elderly parents and would not want them to be traumatized by the WSS experience. As I know, in executing a writ of seizure, a bailiff can seize any 'movable' property in sight (such as furnitures, TV sets, home theater systems, DVD players, etc). Is the bailiff allowed to ransack the house, such us going into the storeroom and taking boxes out one by one to check the contents to see if anything is valuable? Open up her wardrobe, cupboards & drawers and clear everything out to see if there is anything to be seized? Will the place look like a crime scene (burglary) in the aftermath of the WSS? Are there any guidelines that govern the way a bailiff can conduct a WSS in Singapore? Thanks for any answers that may come up. Really appreciate it! :)
